Ace Makes A Really Good Point

...about republicans and the incredibly stupid illegal immigrant amnesty bill now working its way through the legislature. Our current republican "leadership", including the President (or as I'm sure he'd rather be called, "El Presidente") has been such a disappointment recently, I've pretty much given up on the Republican party. Anyway:

...I'm not voting for anyone supporting this sell-out [the amnesty program], and no, I am no longer worried by the threat of a Hillary! or Obama presidency enough to carry the water for the Republican Party. We've done the go-along-to-get-along thing for years, and it has earned us merely greater contempt and scorn and nonresponsiveness from our "leaders."

That's it for me. I don't give a f*** if Hillary is President. At least if a Democrat is pursuing liberal policies I don't like, I'm not responsible for that, and the conservative movement isn't damaged further by acquiescing to them.

If our Republican congressmen and President are carrying out the Democrats' agenda anyway, I say give the keys of government to the Democrats so that at least they'll be responsible for the consequences.

Sometimes a party needs to be brought to the brink of extinction before it changes its policies. After six years of Bush and the godawful overspending Republican Congresses, I think that time is just about now.

Here's what Fred "The Man" Thompson had to say:

"We should scrap this comprehensive immigration bill and the whole debate, until the government can show the American people that we have secured the borders, or at least made great headway.

"And then we'd give the proponents of the bill a chance to explain why putting illegals in a more favorable position than those who have played by the rules is not really amnesty."

Please God, let Fred Thompson run.

Help us, Fred Thompson. You're our only hope...

For having control of the congress and the presidency for 6 years, Republicans got remarkably little of real substance done.
Let's see, they've given us 2 tax cuts, No Child Left Behind, and a senior prescription drug benefit. Oh yeah, and a war. What else? A lot of earmarks to their own constitutents. Jack Abramoff. Tom Delay. Mark Foley. What a waste of 6 years.

It's funny that some have seemingly found their voice and their principles their principles now that the Dems are in control.

I think Thompson is the smartest of them all. He's gaining in popularity without having to spend/waste hardly any money. He knows he'd be better off entering later. Why waste his money and energy on all of this pre-pre-election madness? He might be a genius.

Yep, that's exactly how I look at it. The Repubs have squandered everything we've given them. It's friggin' frustrating.

I think the real problem is that Republican and Democrats are in name only...
I think it gets harder and harder to distinguish R's and D's on domestic issues especially government spending, growth, and regulation.

We need Ronald Reagan.
